NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience is a windows platform application that recommends optimal game settings to the gamers based on their system config, keep the graphic driver updated, and allow user to record or broadcast the game while playing. Since its public release in May 2013, many features have been added to the product. The user base of 35 million in less than 1 year itself show the success of the product. Recent addition to NVIDIA’s ecosystem is Android based portable gaming device SHIELD. It allows user to play android games, along with streaming the PC games via GeForce Experience.
Gamers want to spend time playing the game rather than tweaking the game settings to get the best performance with great image quality. With advance graphic rendering technologies hitting the market every now and then, the number of customizable settings has also increased per game. Professional gamers are still able to able to understand and customize most of the settings, but for an amateur or occasional gamer this is of no interest. It is the combination of all the settings that should yield the acceptable performance (frames per second) and image quality. GeForce Experience is an attempt to provide an easy and delightful way to set the best game settings with a single click of a button.
As a design owner for the GeForce Experience, I work closely with the stakeholders, program managers, developers, researchers, and the quality engineering team. I strive to convert the ideas or visions of the stakeholders into tangible wireframes or prototypes for discussion and usability testing. Once it is ensured that we are aligned with user’s mental model, I work with the visual design team to come up with high fidelity mockups and document the end-to-end UX behavior.
Here are some of the key GeForce Experience features:
- Optimize the game settings with a single click
- Customize the game settings to get more performance vs higher image quality
- Keep your drivers up to date
- Record your game using ShadowPlay
- While playing, broadcast your game on Twitch
- Stream your PC games to NVIDIA’s handheld gaming device SHIELD
